Worksheet variations

Integration reverses differentiation. The power rule for integrals: the integral of xⁿ is xⁿ⁺¹ ÷ (n + 1), for any n except −1. Raise the exponent by one, then divide by the new exponent. Integrate a sum term by term, keep constants in front, and always add + C, since every constant has derivative 0.

How to solve it: a worked example

Find the indefinite integral.

  1. Start∫(9x2 + 2x) dx
  2. Raise each power by 1 and divide by the new power3x3 + x2 + C
  3. Answer3x3 + x2 + C

Common mistakes to watch for

  • Forgetting + C.
  • Multiplying by the new exponent instead of dividing by it.
  • Integrating a constant k as 0 instead of kx.

FAQ

Why add + C?

Many functions have the same derivative, differing only by a constant: x² + 1 and x² − 5 both have derivative 2x. + C stands for all of them.

Why doesn't the reverse power rule work for 1/x?

With n = −1 the formula would divide by 0. The antiderivative of 1/x is ln|x| + C instead.

Is every worksheet different?

Yes. Numbers are generated each time, and the answer key is calculated for that sheet. Swap any single question and its answer updates too.

Can I mix indefinite integrals (antiderivatives) with other skills?

Yes. In the generator, add more skills; each gets its own section on the sheet with its own instructions.

Is it free to print?

Yes. Generating and printing from the browser is free with no sign-up. PDF downloads need a free account.
