Worksheet variations

Learn the key facts: 1 ft = 12 in, 1 yd = 3 ft, 1 gal = 4 qt, 1 qt = 2 pt, 1 lb = 16 oz, 1 h = 60 min and 1 min = 60 s. To change to the smaller unit, multiply by how many small units make one large unit. For a mixed measure, convert the large part and add the small part.

Common mistakes to watch for

  • Using 10 or 100 as with metric units, so 3 ft becomes 30 in.
  • Dividing instead of multiplying when changing to a smaller unit.
  • In 2 lb 5 oz, forgetting to add the 5 oz after converting the pounds.

Can I mix converting customary units with other skills?

Yes. In the generator, add more skills; each gets its own section on the sheet with its own instructions.

Is it free to print?
